As a parent volunteer, I thought the day would drag on, as the 9-year-old group of girls I had were only in one race and it wasn’t until lunch. To my delight, I found we were busy running constantly from start line to finish line, cheering on every one of the above. It didn’t seem to matter, boy or girl. The “Go Fitzroy” cheer was heard loud and clear throughout the day. I was impressed with each and every student for their determination to cross the finish line, and their upstanding team effort even though we didn’t have enough kids in each category to be a contender for school prizes. A big thanks to all the parent volunteers and to Mrs. Jeanette Scott, our grade 5/6 teacher who took the time to work with these kids and saw to it that they participate in this event. Let’s get together next year and get these kids some shirts, we were the only ones out there without team shirts. WAY TO GO FITZROY HARBOUR PUBLIC SCHOOL!!!!!!
